La reunión preparatoria de la Conferencia de Plenipotenciarios sobre el Convenio de Minamata sobre el Mercurio se celebró del 7 al 8 de octubre de 2013 en Kumamoto (Japón).
En la reunión se acordó el texto sobre Proyectos de resolución que se remitió a la Conferencia de Plenipotenciarios para su aprobación e inclusión en el Acta Final.
