Register now: WHO and Minamata Convention Joint Webinar

Friday, May 14, 2021

On June 2, the World Health Organization (WHO) and the Minamata Convention Secretariat co-host a webinar that will provide an overview of new guidance on public health strategies in the context of the convention. Learn more and register here by 31 May.

The Minamata Convention requires that a National Action Plan for artisanal and small-scale gold mining include a public health strategy on the exposure of miners and their communities to mercury. To support national health authorities, WHO has prepared guidance on developing an evidence-based public health strategy for artisanal and small-scale gold mining (ASGM).

Webinar presentations will include an overview of the approach in the guidance and insights and experiences from countries that pilot tested the approach.
